Villagers remain top of the Irish Indie Chart

After 21 weeks on the chart, Becoming A Jackal is still No. 1

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 08 Oct 2010

The phenomenal success of Conor J O'Brien's band of not-so-merry men continues unabated this week, as their debut release remains in pole position. The No. 2 is a new one, however, with Ham Sandwich's new album White Fox grabbing the second place slot in its first week of asking.

Elsewhere, there is a little jostling, but few major changes. The Saw Doctors (who received an Imro award for their efforts this week) see their new album The Further Adventures Of... slip down one place to No.3. Switching places from last week, The Coronas' Tony Was An Ex-Con is up to No. 4, with Tourist History by Two Door Cinema Club completes the top 5.

The XX have fallen slightly - down from No. 3 to No. 6, with Cathy Davey's The Nameless one spot below, rising considerably from No. 13.

There are four new entries this week. There Is A Hell Believe Me I've Seen It by Bring Me The Horizon is in at No. 8, Carl Barat's self-titled, debut solo effort pops up at No. 15, It's What I'm Thinking Pt. 1 by Badly Drawn Boy is at No. 16, and Philharmonics by Agnes Obel is at No. 18.
