Village hit by Collins cancellation
Edwyn Collins has cancelled his scheduled May 1 appearance at The Village, in Dublin.

The gig was lined up as part of Collins' first full UK and Irish tour in ten years. In 2005, the former Orange Juice frontman suffered a brain haemmorage and he only recently returned to live work. "I'm singing again and it's wonderful for me," Collins said. "I'm back and loving the attention."
Best known for his 1994 hit 'A Girl Like You', Collins is a master indie pop practitioner. His latest album, Home Again, released by Heavenly Records, was recorded before his stroke, but mixed after he returned to studio work. He has been involved in a lengthy rehabilitation, coming through it very well, in the lead-up to his live return. The title track from the album, the beautiful 'Home Again', is being released as a single to coincide with the tour.
Reports from the live shows to date have been hugely positive. However, a statement from the Village simply says that the cancellation is "due to unforeseen circumstances". No further explanation has been given. It is unclear as yet whether or not the Mandela Hall gig on May 2 will go ahead.
