It’s all happening down south this month, with a slew of new releases incoming. What are they putting in the water supply?

There must be something in the water in Cork! The Peoples’ Republic is the source of several hotly-anticipated releases over coming weeks.

First off electro rockers Zombie Computer follow the successes of 2012 with a new gem that is sure to set tongues wagging and toes tapping. The combo have remixed Whipping Boy’s ‘Earth’s Last Picture’. The rejigged opus hits streets early next month…

Fellow locals Dead School have also been in productive mode, their new single ‘Incision’ is also unleashed in February. In terms of live duties the Fifa Records signees are gearing up for an extensive UK jaunt in March….

Also forthcoming is ‘Happy Go Lucky’ the new single from Cork songstress Annette Buckley, available for your listening pleasure on February 24. Check live dates on hotpress.com….

Local combo Screenreader release debut album Disconnect The Dots on January 30, debut single ‘HCI’’ is currently available for download so check out screenreader.bandcamp.com to sample their drum ‘n’ bass / alt. rack sonic mélange. Live dates are due to be announced shortly….

Waterford troubadour Marc O’Reilly is bracing himself for an exciting few months. February sees him embark on a batch of UK dates before he packs his bags again to pop across the pond to Canadian Music Week in March. We’ll be rooting for ye Marc!

Last year’s debut album My Friend Marx won sundry plaudits and over the course of the promotional tour O’Reilly built a strong live following. Let’s hope he’s back out on the domestic circuit soon!...

News from the Osaka camp next… following an action-packed 2011 which saw Patrick Kelleher And His Cold Dead Hands release second long-player Golden Syrup and gig in many a far-flung destination the troupe have just received an invitation to the Rojonova Festival in Sao Paolo, Brazil in April. Before they head off domestic fans can catch them supporting Future Islands in Whelan’s on March 10…

Just back from a successful stint at Eurosonic label-mates Thread Pulls are readying themselves for some interesting local support slots, they grace the Button Factory stage with tUnE-yArDs on February 12 and warm up the crowds for Errors in the Grand Social on February 18…
