U2 documentary to open Toronto Film Festival

A further big screen outing for Bono and the boys is in store.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 27 Jul 2011

September 8 marks the world premiere of the brand new U2 documentary From The Sky Down at the Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Davis Guggenheim (Waiting For Superman, An Inconvenient Truth, It Might Get Loud) the film charts the development and legacy of seminal album Achtung Baby, 20 years after that record broke into the public consciousness.

Featuring new interviews and footage from the band and key figures involved throughout the writing and recording process, From The Sky Down is also making its own history by becoming the first documentary in 36 years to open the prestigious festival.

"U2 has defied the gravitational pull towards destruction. This band has endured and thrived," says Guggenheim. "This movie asks the question why."
