Tim Wheeler to soundtrack Coldplay-funded film

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 24 May 2011

Despite being mega-busy this summer with Ash – they have Whelan’s and Temple House Festival gigs coming up shortly – Tim Wheeler is finding the time to soundtrack Ashes, a dark thriller exploring Alzheimer’s disease, which is funded by Coldplay, directed by Mat Whitecross whose C.V. includes the Ian Dury Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll biopic and stars Ray Winstone.

“The director’s dad had Alzheimer’s and so did mine,” Tim tells Hot Press’ Hannah Hamilton, “and we got talking because of that. I really got the idea behind the film, I really wanted to do it. As well as that, I’d always wanted to work in movies, and Ilan (Eshkeri, the composer with whom he’s collaborating) and I had been trying to work together for years, so it all came together really well. It’s going to be instrumental stuff - nothing like Ash. I only saw the film today, so we’re going to start working on it soon.”
