The Immediate announce single release and Dublin gigs
The Dublin multi-instrumentalists announce two-gig, one-date spectacular.
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 16 Mar 2006

The Immediate play a free 3pm instore at Tower Records, Dublin on March 23 in support of their Make Our Devils Flow EP.
The niftiest of four-trackers, it features ‘Don’t You Ever’, ‘A Ghost In This House’, ‘Tomorrow’s Zero’ and ‘This Mirror In The Hall’.
It’s their first release through Fantastic Plastic, the unspeakably hip UK independent whose roster also includes Guillemots.
The non-skinflints among you can also pay to see the band on March 23 when they play as part of Spirit, Dublin’s Transistor night.

The Dublin quartet go from strength to strength with each new installment. This opening cut from their terrific In Towers & Clouds album is characterised by a jerky syncopated rhythm, a mighty vocal from Dave Hedderman and more hooks than a school cloakroom.

It’s all very free-spirited, some might even say immoral. Certainly relations within The Immediate are unconventional: band members frequently change places, instruments are swapped and vocal duties rotated. There’s a playful grope with U2 here, a quick fumble with Talking Heads there and a covert, climactic Krautrock fondle at the end.

The stand-out in their awesome live set, ‘Stop and Remember’ is an agitated and boisterous call-to-arms that shifts styles and tone more often than the band swap instruments. Singer/drummer/guitarist Conor O’Brien seems to fizzle with excitement as he delivers his thumping vocal. Rising urgency eventually sees him erupt into full-on preacher mode, making for OK Computer as seen through the eyes of punk misfits.
