Welsh rockers Super Furry Animals have just revealed the full details of their forthcoming album, Hey Venus!

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 27 Jun 2007

Super Furry Animals are soon to grace our shores as part of the Lovebox Dublin festival at Malahide Castle on July 21. Now, weeks before their main stage show, the Furries have announced details of their new album, out later this autumn.

The new album, their first on Rough Trade, is set to come out on August 24, and will be preceded by the release of the album’s first single, ‘Show Your Hand’ on August 10.

Hey Venus! started out with as a concept album about a character named Venus, but as frontman Gruff Rhys explains, not all of the songs really fit the story.

“At lot of the songs have the same central theme - following a young woman called Venus moving from a small town to a big metropolis and following her adventures,” Rhys explains.

“Some songs link up to that story more than others, but some were left off the record, they'll be on the next one, which we're working on already. It started off as a concept, but then we chose songs for their merit rather than their themes."
