Stones on a roll again

The Rolling Stones have announced that they’ll be hitting Europe next summer and rumour has it that a stop-off in Croke Park is on the cards.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 19 Jul 2005

But before that happens, the evergreen rockers will be releasing their first studio album in eight years.

The as-yet-untitled LP will be produced by Don Was and is expected to be released on September 5. Early reports suggest that they have used the new record to launch a musical attack on George W. Bush.

One particular track, ‘Neo-Con’, questions the political ambitions behind the American President’s decision to go to war with Iraq and gives Condoleezza Rice a right lyrical rollicking.

Eighteen songs have been recorded over two sessions in France in late 2004 and early 2005, with Mick, Keith and Charlie doing the work between them. Ron Wood was a peripheral figure for most of the recording.

Other song titles on the album include ‘Oh No, Not You Again’, ‘She Saw Me Coming’ ‘Under The Radar’ ‘Look What The Cat Dragged In’, ‘This House Is Empty Without You’ ‘Walking Alone In The Rain’ and ‘You Drive Too Fast’.
