Sharon Corr's debut a Warner's priority

As had been widely rumoured, Sharon Corr's debut solo album is to be released worldwide by Warners.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 22 Jul 2010

The deal, which is a ringing endorsement of the Corrs violin-playing sister's potential for international stardom, was overseen personally by Christian Tattersfield, who is the CEO of Warners UK.

Tattersfield is one of the most highly rated talent spotters in the British record business, with David Rice, David Gray, Biffy Clyro and Rao LaMontagne among the artists he has championed during his Warners tenure. "Cultivating an environment where artists can achieve their full creative potential has always been my priority," Tatterfsfield said, on his appointment as CEO of Warners – a commitment which will be music to the ears of any new signing.

The album, entitled Dream of You, is set for UK release on September 13, with the Irish launch taking place three days earlier, on Friday September 10. "Everyone is very excited about it," Sharon Corr's manager John Hughes told Hot Press. "Christian is one of the most successful guys in the record business at the moment, and so the fact that he is committed to the album as a priority release is an indication of how seriously Warners are taking the whole project."

The album, produced by Billy Farrell, comprises mostly Sharon Corr originals. However, the lead single is a cover of The Korgis' 'Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime' – a Top 5 hit in the UK in 1980 that also topped the charts in Spain, where Sharon Corr and The Corrs are hugely popular.

Stand-out track on the album is a version of Sean O Riada's 'Mná na hÉireann' which features the guitarist's guitarist Jeff Beck on lead. The album also features a duet with Spanish superstar Alex Ubago on the song 'Bunos Aires'..
