RTÉ Concert Orchestra added to Picnic line-up

The Electric Proms take place on the Sunday at Stradbally

The Electric Picnic line-up continues to expand on an almost daily basis with the 55-strong RTÉ Concert Orchestra making their festival debut at 1pm on the Sunday in the Body & Soul area.

This special ‘Electric Proms’ appearance promises to be yet another Stradbally highlight.

“I’d crawl over broken glass to work with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra again,” was the verdict of Deep Purple keys man Jon Lord after performing in the National Concert Hall with them recently.

"The acclaimed conductor David Brophy will be teasing out all shapes and sizes of musical magic from the orchestra’s impressive repertoire," an EP spokesperson told Hot Press. "And this being the best music festival in Ireland, the most eclectic orchestra in Ireland will be chiming with their surroundings by including a few surprise pieces, and introducing some very special guests. This could well be the weekend’s big talking point."

If the special guests we've heard mentioned are anything to go by, it could indeed...
