Peter Doran's campaign to make a third album

There are 11 days to contribute to his PledgeMusic page.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 10 Jan 2012

It seems indie-folk singer Peter Doran's New Year's Resolution was to get down to the business of following up 2010's Sleepless Street and he's enlisting the help of his fans to do so.

Doran will head to the Grouse Lodge Studio on January 30 with what he says is his "strongest batch of songs to date" but he needs some funding.

With 11 days to go, he has raised over 70% of his target but if he doesn't make the total on time, his pledges will be lost. Once he does, however, 10% of all funds raised after that point will go to Oxfam Ireland.

If you fancy pledging, head to www.pledgemusic.com/projects/peterdoran now. Pledging will get exclusive access to the recording process in the form of demos, blogs and video, and a choice of rewards (signed CDs, handwritten lyrics etc…).

Scenic Route

In contrast to Lynch, Peter Doran’s debut is much more in tune with traditional singer-songwriter fare. This however, doesn’t make the Mullingar performers work any less impressive. Delicate and reserved, Doran’s tender voice swells with the sparse, acoustic-driven melody. Owing a great deal to Damien Rice, there’s an impressively warm and enchanting feel to ‘Scenic Route’. If debut album Wood is half as good we really do have much to look forward too.
