Christmas comes early for Paddy Casey fans with the release on November 26 of an updated version of Living.
Resident in the Irish top 20 for a marathon 56 weeks, the original 12-track record is augmented by a bonus disc featuring:
'Don't Need Anyone' (Demo, B-side of 'Saints & Sinners')
'Shine' (B-side of 'Whatever Gets You True')
'The Whole Of The Moon' (Live with The Frames at the A Wee Night For Uaneen gig in the Olympia)
'Fear' (Radio promo)
'The Lucky One', (Demo, B-side of 'The Lucky One')
'Bend Down Low' (Live at The Olympia)
'Reach Out' (B-side of 'Want It Can't Have It')
'Can't Wait' (Demo)
'Family Tree' (Radio promo)
A couple of those will doubtless get an airing on December 30 when Paddy plays the Dublin RDS Main Hall.

Paddy Casey’s music has improved dramatically since he first emerged, the David Gray-isms of yore being replaced with something far more ambitious and colourful. ‘Addicted To Company’ incorporates swooping strings, the odd splash of brass, and even some gospel-flavoured backing vocals. This has an ambitious feel to it and could be huge.

Sometimes it feels as though Ireland is suffering an overdose of bed-sit earnestness. For a generation of songwriters, elegant mooching has acquired the character of a national pastime. Amidst the apparently bottomless onslaught of weepy self-consciousness, Paddy Casey cuts a solitary figure. Although no less gushing than his peers, the Dublin singer boasts songwriting chops to match.
