New Oxfam initiative
The likes of Sharon Corr and Miriam O'Callaghan are supporting their call for donations.

Oxfam have launched a new campaign to re-stock their charity shops, which have over the past year experienced a 40% fall in donations.
Among those supporting the Make Space For Oxfam initiative are Tom Dunne, Miriam O’Callaghan and Sharon Corr who’ve all rummaged through wardrobes and under beds for swag they’re no longer using.
“The Oxfam shop is the foundation upon which much of Oxfam Ireland’s work is built and directly supports Oxfam’s ability to respond to emergencies such as the current crisis in East Africa, where up to 13 million people face starvation,” explains Jim Clarken, Oxfam Ireland’s Chief Executive. “So if you have something taking up space in your life, donate it to your local Oxfam shop”.
Oxfam can raise an average of €35 from a donated bag of good condition clothes; paperbacks, DVDs and CDs sell for around €3 and they also do a roaring trade in household goods. They just need lots more of them!
