New Christy Moore album

You can get your first taster of Listen this week.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 02 Mar 2009

Christy Moore has confirmed the April 17 release of Listen, his first studio outing since 2005’s Burning Times.

The album’s trailed this week by ‘The Ballad Of Ruby Walsh’, an ode to the reigning Irish National Hunt champion jockey who also happens to be a Kildare neighbour of Christy’s.

“I’ve followed the geegees since boyhood,” Moore explains. “When I saw Jimmy Eddery on The Curragh in 1955 my future was sealed. Some time ago I was sweating on a treble in Ballybrit and Ruby did not let me down. The least I could do was sing a song for my fellow Lilly White. It’s based upon the old ballad which Luke Kelly made his own.”
