Mrs. Brown's new BBC One show

Brendan O'Carroll will be in character in a 'coveted Saturday night gameshow' slot.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 14 Aug 2012

Having scored seven million cross-channel viewers with her sitcom, Mrs. Brown – AKA Brendan O’Carroll – is to get her own Saturday night BBC One Mrs. Brown’s Celebrities gameshow.

A 40-minute non-broadcast pilot is currently being worked on, with the series proper debuting in 2013.

“Mrs. Brown is one of the crown jewels of BBC comedy,” enthuses the Beeb’s Commissioning Executive Editor. “We are delighted that she is welcoming some famous faces into the family, and we are equally thrilled that she is continuing to make herself at home on BBC One.”

O’Carroll is also working on a BBC pilot based on his first play, The Course, in which he stars as lecturer Joe Daly, a man struggling to make something of a group of six no-hopers.
