Imelda May, Fionn Regan and more for Queens Festival

As well as May and Regan, Josh Ritter, Buzzcocks and Tinariwen will headline the forthcoming Belfast Festival at Queens, running from October 16 to 31.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 19 Sep 2009

Performing in Belfast will crown an amazing year for May. She has already cracked the Irish top five and appeared on the BBC's Later...With Jools Holland and is currently finishing her latest album.

Regan, meanwhile, is about to unleash the follow-up to Mercury nominated debut, The End of History.

Punk legends Buzzcocks, for their part, will perform their classic first two albums, Another Music In A Different Kitchen and Love Bites in their entirety in Belfast.

And the presence of Tinariwen on the bill is sure to thrill world music fans – the central African band's eerie, rock and roll influenced music is one of the most thrilling sounds to have emerged from the continent in recent years.

Also on the bill are the Black Dyke Band, a north of the border institution in its 154th year, jazz mavericks The Bad Plus, esteemed English folkie Seth Lakeman, like Regan a Mercury Music Prize nominee, Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake (collaborating with Welsh singer Euros Childs), and Choice Music Prize winner Julie Feeney.

All of the gigs take place in an around Queen's University Campus.
