Hard Working Class Heroes nationwide call for bands

The second inaugural Hard Working Class Heroes will take place in Dublin over three days in September

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 18 Jun 2004

Now entering into its second year, a significantly expanded Hard Working Class Heroes will take place in Dublin, from September 3 to 5.

From its original incarnation over two nights at the Project Arts Centre, the event will this year be showcasing no less than 100 bands, taking place over three nights, at five different venues in Temple Bar.

Last year's sell-out success saw bands like Republic Of Loose, Nina Hynes, The Things, King Sativa and Berkeley strutting their stuff before the movers, shakers and makers of the music industry.

Organizers of the event are now calling for all bands interested in participating in this year's showcase to make their submission via the HWCH website.

With the number of participating bands literally tripling in size, organizers are also staging regional HWCH showcases over the month of August. The chosen bands will be playing shows in Cork, Belfast, Limerick and Galway before descending upon the capital city on September 3.

And as an additional drawcard for hard working independent artists, this year's event will see FMC (Federation of Music Collectives) hosting a series of industry seminars and mentoring sessions.

The seminars, which will be open to the public as well as the participating bands, will be facilitated by key industry players in Ireland and the UK and covering topics like A&R, publishing, distribution and law.
