Green Lights plan farewell gigs

Dublin indie band Green Lights have announced their break-up, with a farewell tour and two free download singles on offer as a parting gift.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 02 Feb 2009

Despite making the shortlist in this year's JD Set band competition, and winning praise from Jackie Hayden in the current issue of Hot Press, Dublin-based three piece Green Lights have decided to call it a day.

The band promise "No arguments, no blood shed, no tears etc", but instead are ending things as frontman Colin plans to move abroad.

The trio managed to release two EPs in the last year, and earned kudos from our own Naomi McArdle, who handpicked their first Small Curious Things release, along with the follow-up Time To Tell The Parents as two of her favourite EPs of 2008.

Say goodbye to Green Lights at The Oak, Cork (February 26, JD Set gig); Whelan's Upstairs (27, with The Funeral Suits); and Bar Ritz, Castlebar (18, with The Bastard Rain).

And, as a parting gift, keep a look out for two brand new download singles, 'Megaphone Bowtie' and 'I'm Mad As Hell', which will be available free from the band's MySpace.
