Got A Rock 'n' Roll Story From NI?

Belfast's Oh Yeah Music Centre seek true rock confessions.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 05 May 2010

From Northern Ireland and got a rock n' roll story from that you want to tell?

The Oh Yeah music centre on Gordon Street, Belfast is working on Stage Two of their exhibition, the NI Music Experience. This tells the story of NI music, from Ruby Murray to Snow Patrol, via jazz, punk rock, blues and the showbands.

One of the new features of the June re-launch will be a video that tells the people’s story. It could be a memorable dance at The Floral Hall, The Undertones at the Casbah Club, Dave Glover in full swing at the Arcadia, Rory Gallagher at the Ulster Hall, David Holmes playing techno at the Art College, Ash at the Penny Farthing or Van Morrison at the Maritime.

A special ‘confessional’ box will be installed at Oh Yeah on Saturday May 15, from 12 noon to 5.00pm. The cameras will be ready and rolling. All they need are your stories. No need to book in advance, just make your way to the reception area.

So come on down, and if possible bring something that reminds you of your best musical memory. A ticket stub, a signed photo, a party dress or a record from the day.

The film will then be edited by Will McConnell from Bandwidth Films, and displayed in the new-look Oh Yeah foyer.
