EDWYN COLLINS GIVES NOD TO NEW DANIEL JONES SINGLE

Ex-Orange Juice frontman Edwyn Collins, has greeted with enthusiasm the news that Daniel Jones´ debut single is entitled ‘Rip It Up’ which the Cork singer-songwriter releases through Index Records on June 25.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 02 Jun 2010

Though not a cover of Orange Juice´s 1983 classic of the same name, Jones’ ‘Rip It

Up" shares the phrase "Rip it up and start again" with that Top 10 hit. Index Records contacted Edwyn Collins personally about the Jones song and the Glaswegian wished Jones every success with the new ‘Rip It Up’.

Jones, fresh from the controversy of MySpace banning his debut album Forever, In Disguise due to the cover art depicting a naked lady in a bath of fish (http://www.hotpress.com/archive/6340791.html), was understandably delighted to get the thumbs up from Collins.

"Edwyn Collins is one of the gentlemen of music. I thank him for his kind

support and wish him well," said Jones.

‘Rip It Up" by Daniel Jones. Released on Index Records, June 25, 2010.
