Codes guest DJ at this weekend's NoDisko

Codes are lined up to appear behind the decks at this Friday's (September 12) NoDisko in The Academy.

Last week The Academy launched its new Friday club night, which will feature guest DJs each week.

Niamh and Podge from Ham Sandwich were behind the decks at the launch last week, along with DJs Jessie & Susie Loveaction, and this week it's the turn of Dublin indie act Codes.

Visuals for the night are provided by Hot Press snapper Ruth Medjber, who took the stellar shots of Metallica that grace our current cover.

NoDisko is free before 11.30pm and delivers a soundtrack of the indie, rock and electro pop acts.

A new name on the block, Codes sound as though they could develop into something rather fine. The epic keyboard-flavoured rock that has stood Royseven (and others) so well of late would seem to be the initial order of the day, although closer inspection reveals their own small stamp of identity at work. The fact that it’s a really, really good song doesn’t hurt at all. We like, let’s have a check back in six months and see if they can match our expectations.
