Codes & General Fiasco land London showcase spots

The Next Big Thing festival is taking place next month in London.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 11 Jan 2010

Codes and General Fiasco will be keeping some very good company as they take part in the HMV Next Big Thing festival, which takes place across five leading London venues from February 5 to 14.

The other 23 participants include Marina & The Diamonds, The Soft Pack, Paloma Faith, Rox, Tinie Tempah and BRITS Critics Choice recipient Ellie Goulding.

“HMV have provided a brilliant way for the public to see artists who are hopefully on the tip of something great, in an intimate setting very early on in their careers,” the aforementioned Marina Diamandis enthuses. “It's also great for the artists, as it provides a platform to perform to a new range of fans, who will have never heard of them before, let alone seen them live.”

Those sentiments are echoed by HMV Live man Jason Legg who adds: “We’ve felt for a while that there's space for a different kind of music festival – one that not only showcases the best of new and breakthrough talent at the start of each new year, when interest is at its height, but which also shines a spotlight on what’s going on with different music scenes right now – whether we’re talking indie rock and pop or folk and hip hop.”
