Chimes of Freedom: Dylan cover album out Friday

Headed up by Sinead O'Connor, 75 newly covered Dylan songs salute Amnesty.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 01 Feb 2012

A double tribute to one of the greatest songwriters of our era and Amnesty International's 50th Anniversary, Chimes Of Freedom hits shelves and digital stores on Friday February 3.

The collection features songs from performers ranging from 19 year old Miley Cyrus to folk music legend, Pete Seeger, who offers up a version of 'Forever Young' at the age of 92. In between (and across the four discs), there are the likes of Adele, Mark Knopfler, Queens Of The Stone Age, Sting, Pete Townshend, Patti Smith and Lucinda Williams.

Sinead O'Connor's ‘Property Of Jesus’ and Flogging Molly’s ‘The Times They Are A-Changin’’ are the Irish (American) contributions to Chimes Of Freedom.

January gave us Sinead's powerful rendition of 'Precious Angel' (see below) and the news, in her HP interview for the current issue, that she only has Bob songs on her iPod.
