Brian McFadden and Shane MacGowan Antrim-bound

Brian McFadden, Shane MacGowan & The Popes and Aslan are among the artists performing at Lammas Fair

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 12 May 2005

Brian McFadden and Shane MacGowan & The Popes are the rather unlikely co-headliners on August 27 when the Leyland Road Playingfields, Ballycastle, County Antrim play host to Open Air @ Lammas Fair.

Starting at 3pm, the bill also features Aslan, Bagatelle and Malachi Crush. Tickets priced £33 are on sale now.

It’ll be interesting to see if McFadden gets barracked by Madonna fans unhappy with him describing Madge as talentless.

“People say Madonna makes great music,” he says. “It’s really rubbish. She doesn’t have a good voice and she’s boring. Just because she’s Madonna everybody says ‘brilliant’ and ‘genius’. I don’t know what she’s got. Maybe it’s because she’s been naked in some movies and excited a lot of men.”

The words “pot”, “kettle” and “black” spring to mind.
