Bang a gong!

The bloody wonderful Flaming Lips move to the Witnness Main Stage on Sunday night, following The White Stripes' sad departure from the festival bill (following Jack White's car accident). And that's not all: David Kitt is now playing Witnness, too

The Hot Press Newsdesk

Following on from the sad news that White Stripes have been forced to pull out of Witnness – see earlier newsflash – The Flaming Lips have been bumped up from the Rising to the Main Stage.

Wayne Coyne & Co. can now be seen immediately before David Gray at 10pm on Sunday night.

As theatrical as rock 'n' roll bands get, expect the Americans to give the current Hot Press cover star a serious run for his backstage rider!

Taking over from the Lips at 10.45 on the Rising stage is David Kitt who'll be treating fans to a sneak preview of his new album due on September 5.

Meanwhile, reports from America suggest that Jack White's girlfriend Renee Zellweger was in the car with him when it crashed. The Bridget Jones star is said to be unhurt.
