Arcade Fire at No. 1 for second week running in Irish Chart
The Suburbs has held onto the top spot, while there are re-entries from The National and Snow Patrol
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 13 Aug 2010

Arcade Fire's newest offering The Suburbs has held onto the top spot of the Irish Album Chart. The album debuted at No. 1 last week.
Eminem and Jedward have traded places - there's a sentence we never thought we'd write! The rapper's Recovery falls from No. 2 from No.3, while the Lucan twins' debut Planet Jedward falls to No. 3.
There are no new entries this week, however The National's latest offering High Violet has re-entered, having been a no-show last week. It's currently at No. 37. Similarly, Snow Patrol's Up To Now has made a reappearance at No. 32.
Somewhat surprisingly, that lovable old rocker Meatloaf has just made the chart - appearing at No. 50, with his classic 1977 album Bat Out Of Hell. Who are we to argue!

Laika’ seems a peculiar choice for single, being the track where Arcade Fire’s debt to Talking Heads is at its most blatantly obvious. Better is the b-side, ‘My Buddy’, a cover of 1940 big band number by Alvimo Rey, great grandfather of AC frontman Win Butler.

Funeral is a diverse collection of absorbing songs, each rich in both its thematic and sonic content. Colours of death, love, life, youth and family are splashed across a lush soundscape that seamlessly blends searing violin and subdued cello with indie riffs and disco beats.
