Alabama 3 sample Aslan in new album
No, seriously!
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 19 May 2005

In one of the most frightening musical alliances of recent times, Alabama 3 and Aslan have pooled resources on a track from the ‘bammies’ new album, Outlaw.
In the mother of all mash-ups, D. Wayne and Larry Love give ‘Crazy World’ the severest of acid country house kickings.
Rechristened ‘How Can I Protect You’, it lines up on the opus alongside ‘Last Train To Mashville’, ‘Terra Firma Cowboy Blues’, ‘Keep Your Shades On!’, ‘Hello…I’m Johnny Cash’, ‘Up Above My Head’, ‘Adrenaline’, ‘Have You Seen Bruce Richard Reynolds?’, ‘Honey In The Rock’. ‘Let It Slide’ and ‘Gospel Train’.
Expect Kasabian and Bagatelle to get it on in the studio any day now!

What is it about this mob that fails to persuade? Their steel peddle revivalism comes on like pastiche, yet it’s subtle, tender pastiche, delivered with intelligence and reverence. There are hints of Beck, glimpses of vintage Nick Cave and tremors too of music that is older, sadder, wiser.

The miniscule number of you who bought their last album, La Peste, will know that the Alabama 3 have decided to tone down the Southern preacher bit and concentrate on the tunes. It's an attempt to get away from the "novelty band" image, which has resulted in savage critical maulings in the UK, and collective head scratching on the other side of the Atlantic.
