Our old chums and at this stage honorary Irishmen Alabama 3 go acoustic for the February 21 release of There Will Be Peace In The Valley… When We Get The Keys To The Mansion On The Hill.
“Not since Robert Johnson dropped thirty eight tracks in one night in a Minnesota hotel room, in 1938 and defined the blueprint for Delta Blues has the genre been so radically ‘fucked’ with,” reflects Larry Love. “There Will Be Peace In The Valley… is back porch music for frontline people, and if you ain’t ready to rumble you might as well go back to your Eric Clapton records.
“The album is primarily concerned with the doomed relationship that is Mr. Daniels’ and Miss Martell’s love affair. Set in a mythical South Wales Valley, these are the children of a post-industrial wasteland where the future is uncertain and the end is always near.”
Guests on the album, which is accompanied by a Howard Marks short story, include the Soul II Soul string section and Joe Strummer’s daughter Eliza Mellor.
There are no Irish dates yet, but we’re sure that will soon be rectified.
