Fight Like Apes new album debuts at top of Indie chart

The Coronas drop to the second spot, while there are other new entries from Phil Selway, Director and Papa Roach

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 03 Sep 2010

Fight Like Apes' eponymous second album, the fantastically titled The Body of Christ and the Legs of Tina Turner has crashed into the Irish Indie chart at No. 1. It follows the electro-poppers debut Fight Like Apes and the Mystery of the Golden Medallion.

The band have knocked Dubliners The Coronas off the top spot, who have had, in fairness, spent quite some time at the dizzy heights of the chart. The boys' second album Tony Was an Ex-Con now sits at a respectable No. 2, while their debut Heroes Or Ghosts climbs from No. 10 to No. 6.

Elsewhere there are other new arrivals, namely Radiohead drummer Phil Selway's debut solo offering Familial at No. 7, and homegrown band Director's I'll Wait For Sound, which just makes the chart, entering at No. 20. This was last year's follow up to the boys' debut We Thrive On Big Cities.
