Divine Comedy to record covers album
Speaking exclusively to Hot Press, Neil Hannon has revealed that one of his new year's revolutions is an album of covers
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 02 Dec 2004

Neil Hannon has exclusively revealed to Hot Press that he's working on a covers project.
"2005 is going to be The Year of Other Stuff," he reveals over a pint of Guinness. "I want to see more of my daughter than I have done over the past 12 months, work with other people and do a covers album."
When's that coming out?
"When I've made it, give us a chance! As for what's going to be on it, I'm currently canvassing opinion."
We reckon he'd do a killer 'London Calling' by The Clash.
"Duly noted!"

As the title would suggest, ‘Diva Lady’ sees Neil Hannon return to the flamboyant form that helped make his name a decade ago. Though easy on the ear like much of Hannon’s more popular work, there’s little exciting or lasting about his latest effort. As ever he hands up disposable pop, driven by throwaway lyrics, delivered with his ‘ain’t I clever’ Wildean phrasing.

The boy Hannon can always be relied on to cobble together a cracking radio-friendly tune, and this is gladly no exception. As ever, Hannon’s honeyed vocals, ambitious production and expressive, masterful song-writing combine to stunning effect, and the result is an enchanting, catchy number that should serve only to consolidate Neil’s national treasure status.
