Sing for Absolution

The single arrives in – zoiks – a ‘static shield bag’ and handling instructions, as though it were some kind of weapon of mass destruction

Tanya Sweeney, 29 Apr 2004

The single arrives in – zoiks – a ‘static shield bag’ and handling instructions, as though it were some kind of weapon of mass destruction, or a devious nugget of radioactivity. In a manner of speaking, it’s not that far off. Matt Bellamy is still the deranged, anti-Christ choirboy we all know and love, and as anyone at their recent live show will attest, no-one can depict the sounds and images of the final, gasping, horrific moments of civilisation quite like Muse can.
