Leafy Mysteries

Stephen Robinson

Weller is another of those artists that’s given us so much classic music that anything that falls below the par of previous releases inevitably disappoints. This is better than a lot of the jangly guitar pop that’s currently enjoying something of a revival, for example, it pisses all over anything Ocean Colour Scene have ever done. Yet at the end of the song when he flicks the guitar pick-up switch for that ‘Braam – Braaam – Braaaam’ effect you’re reminded of past glories. Sigh.
