Let A Good Thing Go

Phil Udell

In a fortnight where many of the Irish bright young things are in action, it’s Hayes that gets the nod. Any remaining notion of her as a late night torch singer are somewhat dashed by the fierce guitars and crashing drums of ‘Let A Good Thing Go’. Mind you, she does dabble with the late-night torch singer thing elsewhere on the single’s four extra tracks, not least on the shimmering ‘Pieces Of Glass’ and an acoustic version of the previously extremely noisy ‘Hanging Around’.
