The not so bare necessities

From enjoying yourself to relieving yourself – here is your essential festival checklist

The Hot Press Newsdesk

FACILITIES

* Bearing in mind that the long queue for the jacks is a festival goer’s recurring nightmare, it will come as a relief – in more ways than one – to learn that there will be 900 portaloos onsite at Witnness

* Remember to bring enough money! There are no cashpoints or phone charge areas but there are two mobile phone boosters on site which will result in better coverage.

* There will be 200 medical personnel and field hospitals in the campsite and main arena.

* For those in need of retail therapy, you can choose from 150 stalls and a craft village.

* Every type of food under the sun – don’t mention the rain! – will be available, including burger bars, noodle bars, sandwich bars, baked potato stalls and plenty of options for vegetarians.

* There will also be a number of bars on site including the new Guinness Lounge

Waterproof boots

Toiletries – soap, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, small towel

Medication – if required, ie. inhalers, hay fever pills

Condoms – you never know, YOU could get lucky! Always practice safe sex.

Look out for:

Medical points

Meeting point

Look out for one another – love thy neighbour and all that

Drink lots of water – we don’t want lots of dehydrated puppies out there.

Bring driver’s licence/student ID or garda ID card – don’t bring your passport. Remember, you must bring ID if you want a drink (alcoholic)

Under 18S

Under 18s are allowed on site if they’re accompanied by a parent or suitable guardian.

“The last thing we want to do is turn people away,” says a spokesperson, “so please check carefully what you need to do and bring to get into Witnness.”

To ensure admittance, arrive together with your parent/guardian and go to the special tent in the box office areas marked “Under 18s” where you and your parent/guardian can go through the checking process.
