Nude for Thought

A look of sophisticated and understated glamour, and one that won’t leave you blending in with the wallpaper.

Celina Murphy, 22 Mar 2010

2010 is not by any means the first time the faux Nude trend has hit the fashion world, but this time it’s for real: some of our favourite style muses have been rocking out in shades of apricot, buff, and beige in very lovely ways this Spring.

Call it what you like, but this much I can say either way: neutrals are a key trend for the season. Don’t be scared by the shade: this is a look of sophisticated and understated glamour, and one that won’t leave you blending in with the wallpaper.

Best of all, a subdued look is a lot easier to master than you might think: if you’re really clever, you’ll get away without literally looking naked in those tell-tale snaps from your night out. Layers of grey help break up the lines and a pair of show-stopping heels are an absolute must.

As for the iconic trench: this is something every single person should have in their wardrobe, an intant cool fix.

Whether you call it camel, coffee or cream, this look is subtle, soft and alluring. It is also anything but beige.

Ones To Watch 2012

The idea behind Whelan’s Ones To Watch festival strikes me as being so flamboyantly clever. The value is big (acts you know and acts you don’t, all working hard to be remembered) and the cost is low (€5 or €10).
