Jon McGregor wins the Impac
|
I haven’t read Even The Dogs yet, but it’s definitely on the list to buy over the weekend. I read This Isn't the Sort of Thing That Happens to Someone Like You a few weeks ago, and most of it was brilliant. There is a story in it called ‘We Wave And Call’ – and I think it is a masterpiece. Check it out here:

| Fair play to him! And he'll be so hairless. I hear that that Immac is great stuff altogether...

| Excellent point. He is struggling a bit with his hair these days and looks somewhat older than his years. Clearly needs a TV3 Expose make-over.

parenthood combined with the internet has definitively reduced my consumption of books. Right now I can't tell you the last novel I've read. I've read a few biographies over last while (not exactly by Primo Levi or anything I'm talking My Boy about Phil Lynott & Gilesy's one) but I've a bunch of stuff I've been meaning to read but haven't found the headspace to relax with.
I need a 3 week holiday without wifi

Yeah - kids and reading books won't go hand-in-hand. But if you do the former bit right then you won't end up in a care home sitting in your own urine. Swings and round-abouts, I guess. I am just finishing off the last pages of James Fearnley's book about The Pogues. It is a bit over-written, but a good read all the same.

| Unless you read books to your kids. They like War and Peace - though that takes quite a while to get through and you generally go asleep before they do...
