Forbidden Fruit
This one I am going to... well, Monday anyway. Pretty good value for €50. You can't beat a bit of Windings, Real Estate, Andrew Bird, Beirut, Mazzy Star, Field Music, Trev Browne, Foil Arms & Hog, and Wilco. That's about €5 an act.

I am looking forward to Real Estate also.I saw Matthew Mondanile from Real Estate last year in the Workmans club under his persona Ducktails. That was a very good gig.Besides the obvious bigger acts on the Saturday I think Lower Dens,Cloud Nothings and Atlas Sound stand out.

Fran, Real Estate will be doing a DJ set in the Twisted Pepper on Sunday night.

also can't wait to see cast of cheers - everything i've heard from their new stuff is great.

"Great idea having it on the bank Holiday Monday instead of a working Friday!"

Yeah, for Dubs who can easily get home, especially for work on Tuesday morning. Not everybody lives in The Pale...
 From : tornaxx Posted : 02/06/12 at 06:28
(But I'll be in work on Tuesday. But not in Dublin.)

I quite enjoyed Dearth In Vegas today. I think my spine is misaligned, but my 39.5 year old body isn't nasty.

New Order were very good while Kool thing, Grimes were good with The rapture and death cab for cutie ok.

Little green cars were the star of the show today, a really great young irish band.

The lack of toilets was poor and the one tiny exit causing a squash for 35 minutes was really crazy, how did it get by Health and safety?
 From : tornaxx Posted : 04/06/12 at 06:43
Yeah, the toilet situation was ridiculous.

Are Dearth in Vegas a tribute band, tornaxx?
 From : tornaxx Posted : 04/06/12 at 09:39
I mistyped. I think that is allowed every now and then. Especially in festival-season.
 From : tornaxx Posted : 04/06/12 at 10:26
Now that I think about it, Dearth In Vegas isn't (wouldn't) be a bad name for a band. But not now.
 From : cyberbuli Posted : 04/06/12 at 14:53
Thought it must be a typo, alright!

Much better weather for Monday, less people there and more chilled, some great music too by Chairlift,Chromatics while real estate, mazzy star were also good and Liars were ok, caught a bit of The Trinity orchestra doing Dark side of the moon which was excellent too.

Great festival despite the torrential rain on Friday night. The sun yesterday was a blessing. Warmed everyone up more than somewhat!
 From : ttemme Posted : 05/06/12 at 18:31

Am I right in saying that there were more gorgeous women at Forbidden Fruit than is fair? (Some of them were even on stage!)
 From : skennedy Posted : 06/06/12 at 10:39
I went on Monday. Real Estate were the best thing I saw all day. Nice festival.
 From : number10 Posted : 06/06/12 at 11:09
After all your exhortations was a bit underwhelmed by Real Estate. Grand and all that, but nothing special...
 From : skennedy Posted : 06/06/12 at 11:34
Maybe you need to know the album, Number10, but I really think they delivered. The guitar playing was exceptional - as were the bass and drums. And some of their songs are really perfect for summer festival sing-along, e.g., 'It's Real'. I was right up the front, so that might have helped too.
