The Inside Track: Someday my Vince will come

News and gossip from the domestic front with Roisin Dwyer.

Roisin Dwyer, 14 Feb 2008

Being able to count Hollywood A-listers amongst your fanbase is a compliment not too many acts can lay claim to, but Large Mound are the exception. Mr Vince Vaughn chose ‘Your Holiday Is Boring’ as his profile song on MySpace, very impressive indeed. You can check out the excellent new video for the track at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir86jho35dc&feature=related.

The band have been busy on the live circuit of late – check Hotpress.com for upcoming gigs.

On a live note, the very wonderful Prison Love (pictured) played a blistering set in Whelan’s when they supported bluegrass legend Dirk Powell recently. The south Dublin band entertained with a fine selection from last year’s long-player A Night In The Box, the two highlights of the set were their fantastic cover of Motorhead’s ‘Ace Of Spades’ and vocalist Barry’s impressive push-up solo.

Another recent live highlight was the double whammy of Story Of Hair supporting Limerick’s We Should Be Dead at their Crawdaddy album launch –watch that space! News from the SOH camp is that a long-player is in the pipeline, hooray!

The Kinetiks' new single ‘Bite The Bullet’ hits the streets on February 29. Recorded last summer at Grouse Lodge and produced by Gareth Mannix the song gets the year off to a great start for the band who had a very successful 2007 which saw them notch up live appearances at Castle Palooza, Cois Fharraige and a support slot to The Enemy at the Ambassador.

The next release from Limerick’s Out On A Limb label will be the new Crayonsmith single ‘Lost In A Forest’, which will be available to download from March 7. The launch takes place that night in Whelan’s with support from Somadrone. The track is taken from Crayonsmith’s forthcoming debut album White Wonder (due in April).

‘Lost In The Forest’ will be previewed on MySpace from Friday, February 8. The artwork, designed by D.A.D.D.Y., can be viewed online now.
