Never mind the Democrats wrestling control of Congress and the House Of Representatives back from Dubya, the only ballot that resonates throughout the free world is the Hot Press Readers’ Poll.
The choices this year couldn’t be any tougher with young guns like Director, Royseven, The Blizzards, Duke Special and The Immediate looking to unseat U2, Snow Patrol, Damien Rice, The Frames and the rest of Ireland’s ruling rock ‘n’ roll class.
With rumours of a Kula Shaker comeback cruelly proving to be false, it’s wide open on the International front too. Do your allegiances still lie with Arcade Fire, Josh Ritter and Madonna or have The Kooks, Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Gnarls Barkley done enough to get your first preference?
It’s not just musical matters that need to be resolved, with Film, TV, Radio and the always-contentious Loathe Of The Year to be mulled over and voted on.
