It's hosted the likes of U2, The Script, Bressie and Lady Gaga over the years, now Windmill Lane Recording Studios are opening their doors to students.
A new BA (Hons.) degree in Music Production and Certificate in Music Production For Games has just been launched and will see Windmill and Griffith College Dublin working together to provide people with a top notch musical apprenticeship and real hands-on experience.
Here's the breakdown of the two programmes:
The BA (Hons) in Music Production is a three year programme designed by music professionals to provide a uniquely relevant career development path for music producers. Allowing students to combine academic development with professional recording experience, the programme provides students with an advanced understanding of music and sound, and its manipulation.
The one year Certificate in Music Production for Games was developed in response to industry growth and gives a deep understanding of how games are created and will see students develop their production skills, recording techniques, composing techniques, sequencing, sampling and sound processing. A major benefit of the course is that once students complete it they will be prepared for industry certification from Digidesign ProTools and Logic which is a pre-requisite for employment.
Please note that candidates will be required to have completed formal examinations in voice or instruments up to Grade IV, or relevant experience in music performance. For more information, go www.gcd.ie/musicproductioncourses.
