2FM boss John Clarke for Music Ireland

John Clarke, the head of 2FM, is the latest figure pencilled in to make an appearance at the RDS this October. Clarke, who is one of the most influential individuals in the industry here, will take part in the panel discussion 'Who Writes The Playlists - And Are Irish Artists Getting A Fair Deal?'.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 20 Sep 2007

John Clarke has spent the last 15 years in RTÉ 2FM, so he knows what he's talking about when it comes to radio. Although he started off as a humble weekend Breakfast Show DJ, he soon rose up through the ranks and is now head of the station.

In his time at 2FM John has continued to show his love for music, presenting a weekly morning show on the station, where he plays tracks from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, in what is one of the country's most popular music radio shows.

There's no doubt John knows about music on the radio, so who better to feature on a panel titled 'Who Writes The Playlists? And Are Irish Artists Getting A Fair Deal?'.

Experts and interested parties will join John to discuss one of the most contentious issues in Irish music right now.

Other members of the panel include Louis Walsh (Westlife, X-Factor), Kieran McGeary (Chief Exec & Programme Director, 96FM, 103FM), and Steve Wall (The Stunning/The Walls).

Be sure to get to the Red room at 3pm on Sunday to witness the heated debate - sparks are sure to fly!
